Referring Partner Pipeline | RP2a: Connecting IL
This article describes what to expect and what to do when a Referring Partner Record is ready for the RP2a: Connecting IL playbook.
How does a Referring Partner Record end up in this playbook?
A record should move into RP2a when the contact or organization may be connected to Independent Living services.
This may include organizations that work with older youth, young adults, youth in foster care, youth aging out of foster care, youth with housing instability, or young adults preparing for independence.
The record may come from RP1 if the first call identified Independent Living as a likely area of interest, or it may be used when a staff member already knows the contact is connected to youth transition services.
What should staff do in this playbook?
The goal of RP2a is to learn whether the organization may have youth who could benefit from Independent Living information, apartment or townhouse tours, counseling support, or referral resources.
Staff should ask about the best office location, youth needs, and whether the organization may be interested in more information or a meeting.
Key questions include:
Which of our offices would you send your clients to?
Do you have any youth who may be interested in touring an apartment or townhouse?
Would a digital referral process be useful for your clients?
Would any youth or families you work with be interested in our counseling services?
Could I schedule a meeting with you to tell you more about Impact?
When should someone with Impact meet with you or drop off materials?
Which program should I bring more information about?
How does a record move out of this playbook?
If the contact wants a meeting, materials, or more information, schedule the next step before ending the conversation whenever possible.
If they agree to meet, staff should plan to collect answers to RP3 questions during the in-person meeting, Zoom, follow-up call, or materials drop-off.
If the contact does not need a meeting but is open to staying connected, continue to RP3: Ongoing Engagement.
If the contact is interested in a different Impact program, document the interest and reassign or notify the appropriate team member.
Important reminder
RP2a should end with a clear next step. Do not leave the record with only “follow up later.”
Strong next steps include:
Schedule apartment/townhouse tour conversation
Send Independent Living referral information
Drop off Independent Living materials
Schedule meeting with organization
Connect with another team member
Continue to RP3 for ongoing engagement preferences
